2.5-inch California Shutters
California shutters with louvres only 2.5 inches wide are an excellent choice for windows, as well as for doors and room dividers. Their narrower louvre width provides more privacy when open than some of the wider options, making them just right for an area with lots of walk-by traffic. When the louvres are in the closed position, complete privacy can be attained.
3.5-inch Plantation Shutters
3.5-inch plantation shutters: Shutters with louvres of 3.5 inches are commonly known as plantation shutters. With the louvres open, visibility is actually 56% greater than with 2.5-inch California shutters, since the opening between louvres is about an inch wider. As the name indicates, this type of shutter first became popular on southern plantations, though it now works well in both traditional and contemporary homes.
